Travel Insurance for Kidney Patients

Below is a list of insurance companies offering holiday insurance to kidney patients which has been reproduced with the kind permission of North West Kidney Patient Association.

These are NOT recommendations.  Each patient is different and all companies assess each case individually.  You should ring round or obtain quotes online to find the most suitable for you, but remember as you will probably have to answer the same questions to each company it may take you some time.

Good luck and please do let us know how you get on so that we can build up a picture of what is available and we can add or remove companies when necessary.

WE MUST STRESS AGAIN THAT ALL COMPANIES ASSESS EACH CASE INDIVIDUALLY.

  3. Such a long list, but who would you suggest more likely to accommodate my 75 year old wife with end stage CKD and type 2 Diabetes, not yet on dialysis but with a fistula grafted 3 years ago, and according to her consultant in a stable condition?

    1. Hi Terry – thanks for your email, as you can imagine we cannot recommend any one company, the companies we have listed have all been submitted by kidney patients over the years who have covered them for travel insurance. I can only suggest you approach a number of them. Sorry not to have been of more help.

  4. I have just purchased travel insurance after getting quotes on this site. It was very much cheaper than the quotes I had previously got. I have nephrotic syndrome and i am remission at present, the second time, so really needed to be insured. I liked this site and found it very easy to use.

    1. Hi Michelle,
Could you tell which insurer you used?

We’ve just been quoted £355.52 from SAGA for our trip to Canada/USA. It seems pretty hefty to us.
I’m a kidney transplant patient. Because it’s the US I’ve been meticulous in recording everything from over the last 12 months. If I’d know it was going to be this expensive I may have opted for a ‘Staycation!!!’ :)
      Thanks.

      1. Sarah. Did Michelle come back with an answer. If not, who did YOU use for insurance. I am due to go to Las Vegas August 2014 and am also searching for cheapest but best cover. I had transplant December 2012.

  5. Good morning.

I came across your site and i think it is very helpful. Im looking for a travel insurance company that will cover my dad. He has ckd and has started dialysis last month. He lives in manila philippines and so far all the insurance companies ive contacted do not cover pre existing conditions :(

I will be based in switzerland permanently for work and will not stop until i find an insurance that can cover my dad so he can travel. I am doing everything i can so he can still live his life as normal as possible.

Im hoping you can help me find one.

    Thanks so much.

    Hoping for good news. :)

    1. Good Afternoon
I’m afraid we are unable to recommend any insurance company unfortunately; as all circumstances are very different.
If you do find a good deal please feel free to let us know.
      Good Luck with your search,
      Kate
